Martin Macdonald – Advisor

Martin started his commercial life as a chartered accountant in Wellington, quickly establishing his own practice which he successfully grew, specialising in the implementation of suitable accounting systems, which enabled business owners to better manage all aspects of their business.

In 2004, he sold his interest in the chartered accountancy practice, and from there, become a shareholder/director in a commercial building business. Selling his interest in 2007, he then at the request of his legal and accountancy colleagues, started to develop a passion for helping distressed, undercapitalised and underperforming businesses in need of “Turnaround”.

Since 2008, he has worked in a variety of roles (CFO, GM and restructuring advisor) across several industries including Manufacturing, Agriculture, Professional Services, Recruitment, Transport, Online Retail and Asset Hire, assisting businesses through the delicate Turnaround process, both at the management and governance level.

Martin has been aligned with Touchstone Capital Partners since 2009, and has a high degree of expertise in the intricacies of family owned businesses.

He is a graduate of Victoria University, father of three sons and has managed several NZ Sports teams to various championship events word wide (including Chef de Mission roles for the NZ Delegation to the World University Games).

Martin is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors.
