Ian Armstrong – Advisor
Ian has 37 years broad international business experience, with a focus on natural resources, products/manufacturing and information technology and change management.
He has experience in a number of management and leadership roles and worked as a Geologist in Zimbabwe before doing an MBA in South Africa and starting a consulting career with Accenture. Management consulting for 22 years with Accenture, in a range of industries covering a broad spectrum of business, strategy and change management. Participated on a number of management boards and committees, dealing with senior management and with leadership roles. Became Managing Partner of South Africa in 1995 then Hungary in 2000, which included a broader role encompassing Czech Republic, Poland, Russia and Slovakia. In 1999 started a family boutique vineyard and winery in Franschhoek, South Africa. Until September 2015 was Chairman of the Sydney based National Group of companies, that distribute petroleum, diesel and biodiesel products and was constructing a large bulk fuel storage terminal at Port Kembla. These companies have now been bought by a large Japanese/Australian consortium.
He remains Chairman of the National Group investment holding company that retains an option in the new Japanese/Australian company. Chairman of Rainbow Nation Renewable Fuels, a South African agri-processing and biodiesel company – mothballed until improved investment conditions in South Africa materialise. Non Executive Director of Stepping Stones Nursery, a major exporter of Japanese maple trees in New Plymouth, New Zealand.
