Bruce McCallum – Executive Chairman
Bruce commenced employment in the chartered accountancy profession in January 1966. He became a partner in 1974 of his then firm, which merged with Price Waterhouse in January 1988, where he was a partner until he established McCallum Petterson in December 1991. McCallum Petterson was established as a specialised professional services firm to move beyond the traditional confines of insolvency practice, to make corporate survival and renewal a first priority. With his then business partner Bruce established the practices of turnaround management and forensic accounting in New Zealand.
Bruce was the first independent auditor of the Government Audit Office, appointed to report to the New Zealand Parliament. He was also the first independent investigating accountant for the New Zealand Futures and Options Exchange and wrote the first books in New Zealand on accounting for futures and options. In 1998 he established the New Zealand Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, Inc., serving as President of the New Zealand Chapter and on the International Board for a number of years. He has carried out investigations on behalf of such organisations as the Registrar of Companies, Securities Commission, Inland Revenue Department, Trustee companies, The Ministry of Health and State Owned Enterprises. He has also provided services to the New Zealand Law Society and the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Bruce retired from McCallum Petterson on 30 November 2007. He is now Executive Chairman of Touchstone Capital Partners Limited, an investment and advisory company that invests in, raises capital, restructures and turns around under-performing businesses. In addition, through his private investment company, Lonesome Dove Holdings Limited, Bruce has various business interests. His past directorships include companies in the farming, transport, food, managed storage, hospitality, furniture relocation and joinery, small business accounting, mobile crane and airline industries.
